Description Bertiella studeri is an anaoplocephalid tapewormwhich inhabits the small intestine. Monkey is itsnatural host while intermediate hosts are certainspecies of Oribatid mites which are found insoil. Human infection can occur as a result ofaccidental ingestion of infected mites, containingthe cystercercoid stage of the worm. The first caseof human infection in Sri Lanka was reported in1976 from the central province1.
