The research was conducted on Banjar Harjo,Ketapang - South Lampung. The research hadbeen conducted for 3 years from 2002 till 2004involved 4 farmers as cooperators. Each farmermanaged 0.5 hectare and half of it wascultivated as a farmers’ method plot and anotheras a banana production management improvements’(BPMI) method plot. Under BPMI wasintroduced utilizing a healthy seedling, arrangingplanting distance, using inorganic and organicmanure, controlling Panama disease withTrichoderma spp., permitting only four suckers togrow up until harvesting, using bunch wrapping toimprove fruit quality and sanitizing environment.Under BPMI, the raja nangka plantain yield in the3rd year was 47 ton/ha, meanwhile under farmers’method was only 20 ton/ha. An economic analysisresult showed the B/C under farmers’ method wasbetter due to low production cost, but based on thesustainability and the profitability however, bananafarming under BPMI was much better.
